Last month, we hosted our friends, family, and industry partners for our annual Native Planting Session at Coal Pit. We were touched by the incredible turnout and support of our small team and reforestation efforts. Anika has been working closely with Neill, Barb, and the Whakatipu Reforestation Trust for the past few years, including the landscape of our second planting session. This year's group contributed to the planting of 600 native trees on-site next to our non-viticulture land on-site and next to the 400 natives we planted last year (which are almost 1.5 meters in height, almost as tall as Anika; pictured above).
We're proud of our commitment to sustainability and guardianship of our land, and being newly inducted into Porto Protocol, we are thrilled to share our plans with the global wine community dedicated to sharing knowledge and solutions to bring climate action to life.
This year's session of community planting and honest graft finished with a glass of our 2023 Coal Pit Rosé, wood-fired pizzas, and a beautiful antipasto platter made by Lisa. It was a very rewarding day spent in nature sharing the love for our land and environment with our people.
We look forward to hosting this event each Spring and seeing the progress each session has contributed to our regenerative native forest.
