Our first release under the Artisan Series is here: the Coal Pit Bendigo Pinot Noir. It marks an exciting venture beyond our home sub-region of Gibbston, allowing us to explore other parts of Central Otago, alongside different winemaking techniques.

Lifted aromatics of bramble fruit and oriental florals, complemented by a hint of dusty cocoa that pays homage to Bendigo's unique sub-regional characteristics. The influence of 100% whole bunch practice adds a touch of warming kirsch to the aroma. On the palate, opulent flavors of peonies, wild red berries, and Christmas cake spice with some underlying savoury undertones flows freely, with a delicate quality to the layered tannin structure. This multi-dimensional wine will continue to unfurl in the glass.

Adorned with another iconic label by Chris Heaphy, the striking black Bendigo label is an iteration of the renowned Coal Pit oil painting, which hangs in our winery. Bendigo is the dark horse in our stable.

A project with such significance to us it will only be available for purchase on our online store or from our cellar door partner, Kinross.
