We'd like to take a moment to reflect on many milestones and achievements of 2023—thank you for letting us sharing every moment with you.

We were honoured to have the renowned Steve Flamsteed, of Giant Steps fame, join Coal Pit as a mentor, collaborating and bringing his vast expertise to our team and wines. 

We hosted our largest Open Day event to date, with over 60 friends, family, and Cellar Club members joining us for an unforgettable day of great wine and great company. 

Harvest was the first completed under our full BioGro organic certification and we attended the very informative Organic Winegrowers Conference in Blenheim. 

We proudly welcomed numerous new partners, and worked closely with existing partners to expand their Coal Pit listings.

Our 2019 Tiwha Pinot Noir won Gold & Trophy at the prestigious International Wine Challenge in London, a testament to our site, hard working team and the ongoing pursuit of excellence. 

We introduced our Artisan Series, featuring the Bendigo Pinot Noir, offering a chance to explore new winemaking horizons and subregions.

Lisa joined our team and has been an invaluable addition, managing our operations and contributing to the wonderful dynamic of our female-strong team (and Hugo!).

We committed to extra bottle age on our Foundation Series to allow for optimal drinking, with the 2021 Tiwha Pinot Noir spending 18 months in bottle prior to release.

We exported our first wine into the American market, with Anika completing US trade visits upon the conclusion of her vintage working at Jonata in California.

We proudly sponsored and participated in local community events, including 'Staring Into The Sun' art exhibition by Luke Foley-Martin, LUMA light installation festival in Queenstown, the Arrowtown Long Lunch and various school fundraisers.

We hosted another successful native planting session, with over 1,000 natives in our gully adjacent to the vineyard. 

After months of work, we were accepted into Porto Protocol, a global wine community dedicated to sustainable practices.

Responding to numerous requests, we launched the Cellar Club and have enjoyed growing the community of wine lovers who share our passion.

Anika participated in QueenstownNZ's 'Our People, Our Land' series, sharing her reasons for living, settling, and working at Coal Pit.
